Transportation in Boston, Massachusetts

Like many other major cities Boston has many ways to get around the city. They have the bus, the subway/commuter rail, boats, share a car program and bike share program.  Boston is also known for being a very walk able city. When people think about getting around Boston they think of the subway nicknamed the T by the locals. The T has been running in Boston since 1964 and it is the fourth busiest subway system in the United States. City of Boston has had mass transportation in the city since 1631. In Boston today there two new ways to get around Boston that many do not know about.

First the bike share program called Hubway which was started in April 21, 2011 to help build Boston as one of the best biking cities in the world. The official start date of the Hubway was July 28, 2011 with 600 bicycles and 60 stations all over Boston.  John who works for Hubway said" Hubway in Boston has been huge success." You can join for annual membership for $ 85 also you can get the casual membership for $12 or a 24 hour membership for $5 at any of the kiosks at any of the 60 stations.

Then you have the car sharing program which is called Zipcar, which are coming to cities all over the U. S and Europe. Zipcars are for people who want to save money, need a car sometimes, or do not want the problems that come with owning a car. For prices and other information you can go to www.zipcar.com/boston/find-cars.
