Boston, Massachusetts has a very rich history with sports and championships. In the last ten years Boston has won seven championships. The breakdown of the ten are as followed one in hockey, two in baseball, one basketball and three in football. The sports teams are part of the culture and that is one reason Boston is so great.
The Boston Celtics have been in Boston since 1946 and have seventeen NBA champions. The seventeen championships are currently the most in the NBA. The Celtics play at TD Garden which is in downtown Boston. The Celtics have had some of the NBA greats play for them such as Larry Bird, Bill Russell, and Bob Cousy to name a few. The Celtics are continuing to build their legacy and make history
The Boston Bruins have been in Boston since 1924 and have six championships in the NHL. The Bruins were the first franchise in the United States of America. The Bruins also play in TD Garden in downtown Boston. The Bruins also have had great players play for them such as Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, and Gerry Cheevers to name a few. Until 2011 it had been 39 years since the Bruins won a championship.
The New England Patriots have been in Boston since 1959 and have three NFL championships. The New England Patriots play currently at Gillette Stadium which in Foxboro, Massachusetts and is only 21 miles away from Boston. The Patriots have current and former players that are great like Tom Brady, John Hannah, Jim Lee Hunt to name a few. The three Super Bowl championships that the Patriots have won all have happened in the last ten years.
The Boston Red Sox have been in Boston since 1901 and have seven World Series championships. The Red Sox play at historical Fenway Ballpark in Downtown Boston. Fenway Ballpark just turned 100 years old this year. The Red Sox have had many great players play in Boston like Ted Williams, Jonny Pesky, and Carl Yastrzemski to name a few. In 2004 the Red Sox broke the eighty-six year curse of no World Series championships and the curse of Babe Ruth.
